I Ain’t Worried (String Orchestra)

This upbeat hit by Onerepublic features in the film Top Gear: Maverick. Arranged here for String Orchestra (with optional drums), it’s filled with driving melodies that perfectly capture a sun-filled summer day. The first violin part heads into fifth position, but all other upper string parts can comfortably be played in first position. There is an optional 3rd violin part which doubles parts of the 2nd violin and viola parts, and fills out parts of the harmonies at times.

Buy Dirt (Voice and Piano)

Jordan Davis’ fantastic track, Buy Dirt was released in July 2021. Davis co-wrote this song with his brother Jacob, as well as brothers Josh and Matt Jenkins.
Davis was reflecting on his friendship with Luke Bryan, and how he was a great dad, husband and friend. This song draws on that, creating a song that is all about faith, family, friends and really finding your happiness.
Buy Dirt peaked at number 4 in the US Hot Country Songs, and number 6 in the Canada Country charts.

Head & Heart – Joel Corry ft. MNEK

British DJ and producer Joel Corry produced an awesome hit with “Head and Heart”. Reaching number 1 in the UK, it was both Corry and vocalist MNEK’s first chart topper.

With such a catchy vocal hook, I thought this would work really well as a choral arrangement. However, some of the vocal flourishes went a bit high in the original key, so I included an alternate arrangement in C minor as opposed to F minor. The lower key necessitated some changes in the vocal lines, but it has meant a reduced vocal range that lends itself to school choirs.

Ding Dong!

An exciting arrangement of “Ding Dong Merrily on High” that will challenge the choir whilst still providing interest and variety for all parts.

Arranged for SATB Choir (without accompaniment), this arrangement sees each part take the melody at some stage.

The verse is initially arranged in 5/4, which has a sort of Mission:Impossible, uneven waltz feel to it. Then in the chorus, it changes to 7/8 which brings the waltz feel into the other direction. The piece closes with a standard arrangement of the verse and chorus in 4/4, which utilises rich harmonies and intersecting parts that brings to life the “evetime song” that exclaims “Hosanna in Excelsis!” .

Concertino in G, Op. 11 – Küchler

German composer Ferdinand Küchler wrote this piece in 1934 and it became a staple in the beginner violin repertoire. Küchler was a renowned violin pedagogue, and his writings on teaching went on to shape violin pedagogy into the 1960s.

This concertino of three movements was written to be performed in the first position. The first movement, Allegro Moderato, is written in sonata form, features an arpeggiated main theme, a tranqillo second theme, with some scalic passages and a repeated quaver development of the first theme. The second movement, Andante, in 3/4, is in an extended Ternary form (AABA). The final movement, entitled Rondo with a tempo marking of Allegro, is written in rondo form, and includes a number of beautifully crafted melodies.

Me! – Taylor Swift cover

Me! – by Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie – performed by two violins, piano, acoustic guitar, cajon, and tamborine. All instruments performed by Ben Clapton.

ME! was written by Taylor Swift and Bendon Urie (From Panic! at the Disco), released on April 26, 2019. This arrangement is for two violins, one taking Taylor’s part, and the other Brendon’s part. This gives both players the opportunity to shine. A Piano part accompanies, and a suggested cajon part, although this could easily be replaced by drums.

ME! is a bubblegum pop song about embracing your individuality and owning it. It’s a tune that can get stuck in your head and makes people feel better about themselves.

Rattlin’ Bog

I saw this song being sung by an Irish lass at the end of a wedding, and I thought to myself “I have to learn that song.” Watch to the end for some extra cuteness.

I have also arranged it for SATB. This is a fun little piece with a humorous twist at the end – feel free to play this up as you perform it. Everyone gets a chance to shine in this arrangement for Acapella SATB group – suitable for performance as a quartet or in a larger ensemble.
